Early Childhood Educators
Welcome to the Early Educator Support Office at UNC Charlotte. Our program provides a range of support to NC Pre-K and Developmental Day preschool lead teachers, and we are looking forward to serving you this program year. The Early Educator Support Unit serves as the statewide Education Agency for all early childhood educators in non-public school settings who hold, or are eligible for Birth-through-Kindergarten licensure.
With enrollment in this program, you will be assigned a mentor and evaluator. As you participate in the Beginning Teacher Support Program, you will be the center of your T.E.A.M.(Teacher, Evaluator, Administrator, Mentor) working side-by-side with your mentor, evaluator, and site administrator. You will be offered support and encouragement to grow professionally and promote best practices in your classroom. Your mentor and evaluator are trained early childhood professionals who will use the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards and many other tools as they guide you through the North Carolina Teacher Evaluation Process.
If you have any questions related to licensure, please access the Link to State Map of the EES Unit (Raleigh).

As you begin this new year, remember that the key to a successful school year is forming strong, positive relationships:
- With children: Children are at the center of your work, and they’re probably excited and nervous about starting the year. Learn about their personalities and interests and add materials to your classroom based on what you learn
- With families: Families offer the gift of trust, sharing their children and their lives with you. You are partners in supporting their children’s growth and learning!
- With your colleagues: Spend time getting to know the teachers and staff you will work with each day. They are part of your support system, and you are a part of theirs.
- With yourself: What knowledge and talents do you bring to your classroom? Celebrate Y-O-U, and plan to regularly reflect on your progress. Build in time to relax, refresh and restore yourself throughout the year – you and your children will reap the rewards!
We look forward to working with you!
