Members: Joanna Aguilar, Gwen Conover, Kyra Gomez, Samantha Hines, Kawanna Jackson (Facilitator), and Angela Wilson
Mission: To continuously examine, through engagement in guided inquiry, our program, practices, and products to ensure they are developed and carried out through a lens highly attuned to inclusivity, equity, and diversity.
Goals for this Year:
1. Create a presentation to provide team members with descriptions, guidelines, and examples to identify and rate accurately Proficient and Accomplished levels of performance in Standard IIb (and how to identify these makings in standards I and IV for teachers with a continuing license). a) Guidelines from resources (NCFELD, Code of Ethics, books, NC Teacher Standards,presentations from teammates) b) Descriptions (examples from the field)
2. Participate in a book study, discussing, sharing ideas, and gathering information relevant to our presentation. The books we will read are “Coaching for Diversity and Inclusion, Accessibility,and Belonging in Early Childhood: A Step-by-Step Guide for Classrooms and Schools.” by Laycee Thigpen, Anni K. Reinking. “Teaching for Justice and Belonging: A Journey for Educators and Parents.” By Tehia Starker Glass, Lucretia Berry.
